Los Angeles might become the largest U.S. city to implement a second stay-at-home order ascoronavirus hospitalizations continue to rise, according to reports. At Skylight Books in Los Feliz, events manager Madeline Gobbo said the county’s new capacity limits would not make a difference because the shop allows only 10 customers at a time to browse the aisles. The order prohibits all public and private gatherings with individuals not in the same household, except for religious services and protests. Well, let’s assume that the stay at home order isn’t pushed beyond May 15. Let’s say that at least this current form of the quarantine will be over and certain activities will resume.

There has been a big push in recent weeks to reopen the state’s economy, which has been hurt by the stay-at-home orders. Newsom last week announced new protocols for retail stores and some workplaces to reopen. Ferrer’s comments came shortly before Gov. Gavin Newsom announced that he was modifying the state’s stay-at-home orders to allow individual counties to approve the reopening of malls for curbside pickup service only. The order also allows for the reopening of some offices if teleworking is not feasible.
